Early career

In his early days, he worked for Paul Boesch out of Houston. He was a hardworking child from his young days where he used to sell posters with great success at the age of 10. It might be amazing to know that he worked as a ring announcer at the age of 12 and used to serve as a referee frequently. He made a giant success by working as ring announcer for some Universal Wrestling Federation shows as he maintained a good working relationship with Bill Watts’ UWF.

WWF career

In 1987, he joined the World Wrestling Federation where he worked as an announcer for the WWF’s television programs in the early days being accompanied by “The Duke of Dorchester” Pete Doherty and Mike McGuirk.

He rose into the limelight after being featured in ‘Brother Love’ character dressed in a conspicuous white suit, white tie and tight red shirt having red-faced, dishonest, effusive, smarmy and boisterous “preacher” character.

He hosted a segment on WWF’s syndicated and cable television programs called “The Brother Love Show” where he used to interview wrestlers debuting on June 19, 1988, airing of Wrestling Challenge. The show made its pay-per-view debut at the inaugural SummerSlam event where he took an interview of “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan at Madison Square Garden. He became the manager for The Undertaker on November 19, 1990, whom he managed until February 1991.

He joined Global Wrestling Federation after being released from WWF. He started working as a manager and ringside interviewer for the Dallas-based promotion between 1991 and 1992. In September 1992, he returned to WWF and played portrayed two short-lived characters. He initially made his appearance as eel color commentator on All-American Wrestling ‘The Wizard’ and later as a satire on Dusty Rhodes ‘Reo Rodgers’.

He also worked as a writer for some of WWE’s shows and as Vince McMahon‘s “right-hand man”. In November 1995, he returned his character Brother Love hosted the Brother Love Show. On October 10, 1997, he managed The Undertaker for a match against Jinsei Shinzaki in Michinoku Pro Wrestling (MPW). He also participated in battle royal at WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001 where he was got eliminated by Sgt. Slaughter.

There was a time when the rumor stating him having an affair with Stephanie McMahon was surrounded everywhere. Prichard talked about the rumor in one of the episodes of his podcast Something to Wrestling stating that the rumors were completely false. He further added that she was her boss and many people had a lack of proper judgment.

TNA career

After releasing from WWE, he joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling as TNA head writer on October 6, 2011. He replaced Terry Taylor to become the Vice President of Talent Relations in May 2012. He turned the Senior Vice President, Programming & Talent Relations on October 17, 2012. With Taz and Al Snow, he became a judge in the monthly Gut Check segment on TNA Impact from May 2013. On July 17, 2013, he was released from TNA.

He made his return to TNA in 2017 and started making an onscreen role for the recently renamed Impact Wrestling. He left the company the same year In the month of August.

MLW career

An announcement made on March 8, 2018, revealed that he was hired by Major League Wrestling (MLW) as a senior producer.

Return to WWE

He appeared again into the limelight when it was revealed that Prichard would return to the WWE for a one-off appearance as Brother Love. Later, he was officially signed to join the network’s creative team and served as WWE’s Senior Vice President. He took over the role of Executive Director of SmackDown on October 15, 2019.

When Paul Heyman was removed from the executive director position of Raw, Prichard was allowed to lead both the Raw and Smackdown writing teams in June 2020. On May 10, 2020, he was seen making a cameo appearance as Brother Love in the titular ladder match at the 2020 Money in the Bank.

Podcast

He started an online podcast with co-host Conrad Thompson called ‘Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard.’ On the podcast, the hosts talk mainly about Prichard’s time with the WWE/F, TNA and GWF. The show was presented as a companion video show named ‘Something Else to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard’ which made its debut on April 18, 2018, on the WWE Network.
