Early career

He was defeated by Bruce Santee at Full Impact Pro on August 3, 2009. He took on VSK in a match for VPW New York State Championship on August 21, 2010. He also participated Gold Rush Rumble where he became unsuccessful. He teamed with QT Marshall to face The Briscoe Brothers but became failed for Ring of Honor Wrestling.

He made his debut for Vintage Wrestling on April 18, 2009, where he successfully marked victory against Nooie Lee. Later he earned the first Vintage Heavyweight Champion by defeating Glacier. He defended his title against Jesse Neal and Tyson Tomko. However, he lost the title on September 11 to Jesse Neal. He also participated in the King Of The State tournament in 2011 and reached to finals where he lost to Francisco Ciatso. He became victorious against Aaron Epic making him win his third Vintage Heavyweight Championship which he later lost to Francisco Ciatso on June 6, 2012. He made his Florida Underground Wrestling debut on August 8, 2011, where he won a three-way match. On June 30, he recorded his last match for the promotion defeating James Alexander.

TNA career

On August 8, 2010, he made his appearance at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) as Lupus where he attacked Tommy Dreamer in his match against Raven. On August 9, 2010, he made his in-ring debut for TNA against Jesse Neal in a dark match. He accompanied Jeff Jarrett on the December 30 episode of TNA Impact! as part of his entourage in his $100,000 Double J MMA Challenge. He also participated in the monthly Gut Check on IMPACT in 2012. It was announced that he would start using “Dexter Lumis” for wrestling. He participated in the NXT Breakout Tournament where he got eliminated in the first round after losing to Bronson Reed.

His return was promoted on the March 25, 2020, episode of NXT. He also defeated Jake Atlas in the following week. He helped Velveteen Dream on the April 22 episode of NXT to defeat The Undisputed Era in a tag team match. He tried to help Dream in his NXT Championship match against Adam Cole on the May 6 episode of NXT but accidentally knocked out the referee.

He interfered in the Backlot Brawl match between Dream and Cole at NXT TakeOver: In Your House by attacking Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish. He faced Cole in a non-title match but lost the match following a distraction by Strong and Fish. After this, he chased Strong to the back and defeated him in a strap match on the July 1 episode of NXT: Great American Bash.

He also defeated Finn Bálor and Timothy Thatcher on the July 29 episode of NXT making him qualified for the NXT North American Championship opportunity but was eliminated from the match after sustaining an ankle injury. On the September 30 episode of NXT, he made his return by appearing in a backstage segment with Cameron Grimes. He became victorious against Austin Theory but was attacked by Grimes after the conclusion of the match.

He challenged Damian Priest for the NXT North American Championship on the October 14 episode of NXT but lost the match as Grimes stomped him on the apron. Lumis was able to take revenge by defeating Grimes in a Haunted House of Terror match. Grimes again distracted him in his match against Timothy Thatcher on the November 11 episode of NXT. He marked a win against Grimes in a strap match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames on December 6, 2020. He served as the host of NXT: New Year’s Evil on January 6, 2021.
