Storyline marriage with Lita

Kane helped Vince McMahon in his Buried Alive match against Undertaker. Kane continuously insisted on being dead after the Buried Alive match and was defeated upon the return of The Undertaker at WrestleMania XX. After the match, he fell in love with Lita but was rejected. He kidnapped Lita on the day where he won a 20-Man battle royal for a World Heavyweight Championship match. Lita announced that she was pregnant with her then-boyfriend Matt Hardy, however, Kane claimed that he was the father of the baby in her womb on the June 21 episode of Raw.

When Kane lost match against Benoit, Lita came out and low-blowed him. On August 15, 2004, at SummerSlam, he faced Matt Hardy a “Till Death Do Us Part” match where Lita would marry the winner. Kane came out as the winner after which he married Lita the August 23 episode of Raw. During the wedding ceremony, he was attacked by Hardy but manage to chokeslam Hardy. Kane and Lita

In January 2005, he defeated Snitsky upon his return. He reconciled with Lita and began antagonizing Trish Stratus. Later, Lita turned on Kane and began an on-screen relationship with Edge who was her then real-life boyfriend. Kane defeated Edge at Vengeance despite interference from Snitsky but lost back to him on the July 25 episode of Raw.

Early wrestling career

Jacobs was initially popular as Angus King with which he made his debut in St. Louis, Missouri area with the CSWA. It was owned by his childhood friend named Mark Morton. He also appeared in the United States Wrestling Association (USWA) wrestling as Doomsday. He also appeared in Smoky Mountain Wrestling (SMW) as Unabomb where he formed a team called The Dynamic Duo with Al Snow. He also won the USWA Heavyweight Championship. Using his real name, he also wrestled for Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi. At an SMW show, he lost to World Wrestling Federation (WWF) wrestler The Undertaker in August 1995.

WWF/ E career

On February 20, 1995, Raw taping, he joined his first World Wrestling Federation (WWF) bout as Mike Unabomb where he defeated Reno Riggins in a dark match. He made his first television appearance as Isaac Yankem, DDS on the June 26, 1995 episode of Raw. He was portrayed as a monstrous figure considering his height and weight and was hired for the purpose of ridding, Bret Hart. On August 15, he made his in-ring debut with the character losing to Hart. Hart also defeated him in a steel cage match in the main event of the October 16 episode of Raw.

He was introduced as Diesel by play-by-play announcer Jim Ross in September 1996. At the same time, Rick Bognar was introduced as Razor Ramon and the duo formed a team in a losing effort against The British Bulldog and Owen Hart. In the main event of the December 22 edition of Superstars, he lost to The Undertaker as Diesel. On January 11, 1997, he marked a victory against Marc Mero.

From April 1997, Jacobs emerged with a new character as ‘Kane.’ It was revealed that he was Undertaker’s long-lost brother going to come and challenge him. During that time, Undertaker was having a feud with his former manager, Paul Bearer who accused him of murdering his family by starting a fire at their funeral home but Kane was able to escape. On October 5, 1997, he cost The Undertaker in the first Hell in a Cell match against Shawn Michaels. Kane got his victory against Mankind at Survivor Series. He began a feud with Undertaker who initially refused to face him and stated that he won’t fight against his own “flesh and blood”. Kane interfered with Undertaker in his match against Shawn Michaels at the Royal Rumble costing him the WWF Championship. The Undertaker made his return at WrestleMania XIV and defeated Kane. Both Kane alongside Paul Bearer attacked The Undertaker, after the conclusion of the match. Kane was defeated by his storyline brother at Unforgiven: In Your House on April 26. He defeated Vader in a Mask vs. Mask match held at Over the Edge: In Your House. He became the number one contender to the WWF Championship by defeating The Undertaker on the June 1 episode of Raw Is War.

Kane vs Big Show

He also defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin at the King of the Ring making him earn the WWF Championship. However, he lost the title back to Austin. He formed a tag team with Mankind and the duo won the WWF Tag Team Championship twice. After losing the title, he earned against Mankind and eventually formed a tag team with his brother The Undertaker. The duo was called The Brothers of Destruction.

On December 13, 1998, he interfered in the Buried Alive match between Austin and The Undertaker at Rock Bottom: In Your House. He acquired a girlfriend named Tri after forming a tag team with X-Pac. He also got associated with D-Generation X (DX). The duo broke their team when X-Pac turned on Kane in order to join back to DX. Kane teamed with Rikishi to became victorious against X-Pac and Road Dogg.

Kane helped The Rock and The Undertaker on the May 29 episode of Raw to face the McMahon-Helmsley Faction. This made the main event match against Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon and Triple H. Later, Kane and Undertaker’s rivalry grew after which they faced at SummerSlam where Kane’s mask was removed by his half-brother. Kane and Undertaker teamed together as The Brothers of Destruction and started a feud with Edge and Christian, The Two-Man Power Trip and Rikishi and Haku. Kane marked a victory against Triple H to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship at Judgement Day on May 20, 2001. He lost the title to Albert following Diamond Dallas Page’s interference. When Page started stalking The Undertaker’s wife Sara, the brothers feuded with Page and Chris Kanyon. They defeated Page and Kanyon in a steel cage matchmaking them hold both the WCW Tag Team Championship and WWF Tag Team Championship.

In August 2002, he appeared with a new outfit and half-mask as part of the Raw roster. Kane and The Hurricane teamed together to defeat Lance Storm and Christian making them won the WWE Tag Team Championship on the September 23 episode of Raw. The following week, he defeated Chris Jericho to earn the Intercontinental Championship. Kane and The Hurricane had to lose their title against Christian and Jericho.

He teamed with Rob Van Dam to win the World Tag Team Championship by defeating Chief Morley and Lance Storm also involving The Dudley Boyz in the triple threat match. They lost the title to La Résistance on June 15, 2013. He received offers from Triple H to join his stable Evolution and at the same time, Raw co-general manager Stone Cold Steve Austin offered him for the World Heavyweight Championship match if he rejected the offer from Triple H. There was a condition that Kane would unmask if he lost the match. After accepting the championship match, he challenged Triple H the following week in Madison Square Garden but lost the match following the interference by Triple H’s stablemates. Kane removed his mask on the June 23, 2003, episode of Raw. He was emotionally hurt which made him attack Jim Ross in an interview, attacked Linda McMahon (wife of Vince McMahon) on the Raw stage. This started a feud between Kane and Linda’s son Shane McMahon.

Kane vs John Cena

On the October 17 episode of Raw, he made his return winning an 18-man battle royal. After this, he and Big Show appeared together on several occasions and the duo teamed together to defeat Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch for winning the World Tag Team Championship. He defeated Triple H in an Elimination Chamber on the December 12 episode of Raw. Kane and Show began a feud with Carlito and Masters with whom they defended their title. They lost the title to Spirit Squad members Kenny and Mikey. He appeared as JBL’s hand-picked opponent for Rey Mysterio. During that time, Kane used to attack the person who would speak ‘May 19’. Later, he clarified that it was the day when his family members were killed in a fire. When Kane was having a match with Shelton Benjamin for the Intercontinental Championship, an impostor Kane wearing an old mask and ring attire came and choke slammed the original one. He was able to take revenge by throwing the impostor out of the arena on the June 26 episode of Raw.

He moved to the SmackDown! brand on the October 13 episode of SmackDown! and reunited with The Undertaker as The Brothers of Destruction in the following months. The Brothers of Destruction marked a win against Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) and Mr. Kennedy. While Kane was having an Inferno match at Armageddon against MVP who went through a first-degree burn in the match. Kane participated in a six-man elimination over-the-top-rope battle royal involving MVP, The Miz, King Booker, Finlay and Chris Benoit. When all the remaining opponents attacked Kane, The Undertaker interrupted which made the match turn to a no-contest.

He lost to King Booker in a Falls Count Anywhere Money in the Bank Qualifying match on the February 23 episode of SmackDown! following the interference from The Great Khali. He lost to Khali at WrestleMania. On January 29, 2012, he fought against John Cena at the Royal Rumble. Following the match, he attacked Ryder and chokeslammed Cena. He defeated Kane in an Ambulance match on February 19 at Elimination Chamber ending their feud.

He attacked Randy Orton and started a feud with him whom he defeated at WrestleMania XXVIII. Their feud rose at a higher level when Kane attacked Orton’s father “Cowboy” Bob Orton. Kane lost to Orton in a Falls Count Anywhere match. While he was having a match with CM Punk, Bryan interfered which started a three-way feud. Kane defeated Punk and Daniel Bryan on the June 4 episode of Raw and on the June 22 episode of SmackDown respectively.

An interesting story came out when Bryan’s jilted ex-girlfriend AJ Lee started developing an interest in both Punk and Kane. He became fail to capture the WWE Championship in a triple threat match at No Way Out. While Kane was attacked by Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal, Curt Hawkins, Tyler Reks, Hunico and Camacho, he was saved by The Undertaker.

Brans and Kane were enrolled in anger management classes and were forced to compete in a “Hug it Out” match. They formed a team and defeated Darren Young and Titus O’Neil (The Prime Time Players) and later marked a win against Kofi Kingston and R-Truth to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. The official name of their team was named “Team Hell No”. They defended their title against Team Rhodes Scholars (Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow). They also assaulted The Shield (Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins). Team Hell No allied with Ryback in a losing effort against The Shield at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. They also retained their title against Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston at WrestleMania 29 on April 7, 2013. They also saved The Undertaker from The Shield. However, Team hell No and The Undertaker lost to the Shield on the April 22 episode of Raw.

WWE Kane vs Braun Strowman

Team hell No lost the title to Shield members Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules 2013. They also failed to re-capture the title in the rematch. He also lost to Dean Ambrose whom he challenged for the United States Championship. He defeated Christian on the July 8 episode of Raw in a Money in the Bank qualifying match after which he got attacked by the debuting Wyatt Family. Upon his return, Kane faced Bray Wyat but was defeated. He lost to Bray at SummerSlam following the interference by Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.

He was sidelined for two months and made his return on October 27, at Hell in a Cell attacking The Miz and The Wyatt Family. He turned heel by handing his mask to Stephanie McMahon and standing for The Authority. He appeared unmasked wearing a suit and was assigned a fictional role as “Director of Operations”. He was referred as “Corporate Kane” during that time.

He reunited with The Undertaker and began a feud with The Wyatt Family. They defeated Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper at Survivor Series. He entered the 2016 Royal Rumble match at number 7 where he was eliminated by Braun Strowman. He also teamed with Big Show and Ryback to register a victory over The Wyatt Family at Fastlane on February 21, 2016. He joined the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32 where he ended being a runner-up being eliminated by Baron Corbin.

After ten months of the gap, he made a surprise return on the October 16, 2017 episode of Raw by attacking Roman Reigns costing his match against Braun Strowman. He joined The Miz’s team. When John Cena called out The Undertaker on the March 19 episode of Raw, Kane made his return and chokeslammed Cena.

Nearly after a year, he made his return under his real name (Glenn Jacobs) on the September 16, 2019 episode of Raw where he captured the 24/7 Championship by pinning R-Truth. The same night, he took the Kane persona back and saved Seth Rollins from AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. However, he got attacked by The Fiend” Bray Wyatt. He was also seen encountering The Undertaker’s retirement ceremony at Survivor Series on November 22, 2020. He participated in the 2021 Royal Rumble where he got eliminated by Damian Priest after eliminating Dolph Ziggler and Ricochet.


Political career

Glenn Jacobs is also known for his successful political career where he is actively involved in libertarian politics. In 2008, he supported Texas Congressman Ron Paul for President. He considers Woods, John Stossel, Peter Schiff, Harry Browne, Ron Paul and Murray Rothbard as his political influences which he revealed in an interview with The Tom Woods Show libertarian podcast

He rose into the limelight when he announced running for the mayoral seat of Knox Country in March 2017. He won the Republican primary election for the mayoral seat of Knox County with 14,633 (36.09%) votes which were just 17 more than that of votes amassed by Brad Anders, i.e. 14,616 (36.05%) on May 1, 2018. He was elected mayor on August 2, 2018, by a vote of 66.39% where his opponent Linda Haney collected 33.61% of the total vote. He announced that he is seeking reelection for a second time in 2021.
