How was her early life?

She spent most of her early days in her hometown after which she applied to several colleges. She went for training in improv comedy. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 19 years old. Her dream was to initiate her career as a comedic actress. However, she turned her mind and return back to Toronto where she went for auditions for movies, commercials and music videos. She worked hard but at the end, she gained full frustration after which she decided to pursue her career in broadcasting instead of acting.

In 2009, she started working for The Score Television Network on a program called Right After Wrestling. She appeared in the program alongside broadcasters Mauro Ranallo, Arda Ocal and Jimmy Korderas, former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas.

In October 2012, she entered into a contract with the American professional wrestling promotion WWE. Initially, her ring name was Renee Sterling. She made her first appearance on the 2012 Survivor Series pre-show as a co-host alongside Scott Stanford. As a backstage interviewer, she made her debut on the January 23, 2013 episode of NXT. She became popular after interviewing exclusively for WWE Active in February 2013. On the March 29 episode, she made her SmackDown debut where she interviewed Big Show, Randy Orton and Sheamus.

She started co-hosting the World Tour segments and later got promoted as a third main presenter on the JBL and Cole Show. The show was presented through YouTube and WWE’s website and was able to earn a Slammy Award for Favorite Web Show of the Year. Alongside Gene Okerlund, she was the presenter of WWE Vintage Collection. On NXT, she made her commentary debut in September 2013. Later, she turned as a full-time color commentator on NXT.

She worked as a color commentator on Superstars from July 3, 2014 to January 9, 2015 alongside Tom Phillips. This made her set a record of being a WWE’s first full-time female announcer in more than a decade. She came with her own WWE Network show titled, ‘Unfiltered with Renee Young’ in April 2015. She used to take interview several WWE employees. After two months, she began working for the sixth season of Tough Enough as a co-host alongside Chris Jericho. She took an interview of Intercontinental Champion The Miz on the December 20, 2016 episode of SmackDown. When Young asked Miz about his “obsession” with Dean Ambrose, he replied sarcastically revealing Ambrose-Young’s real-life relationship which influenced Young to slap Miz.

She was confronted by The Miz’s real-life wife, Maryse on December 27, backstage. In restallation, she was slapped by Maryse in the following week. She was a guest commentator on the August 13, 2018 episode of Raw which made her set a new record of being the first woman to call an entire episode of Raw. She became part of the Raw commentary team full-time and turned into the program’s first permanent female commentator.

She moved to SmackDown as a “special contributor” in October 2019 and started working for the new studio program WWE Backstage on Fox Sports 1 as co-host alongside Booker T. When Corey Graves and Michael Cole were late of travel delays, she filled as a commentator on SmackDown on November 1, 2019. In August 2020, she shocked her fan by announcing her departure from WWE at SummerSlam. On Friday, October 16, she made her return for a special SmackDown pre-show where she served as co-host alongside Booker T.

Although leaving WWE, she has made her special appearance during an event presenting the return of WWE Backstage with returning co-hosts as Booker T and Paige, also she promoted the upcoming Royal Rumble. She started her own podcast called “Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette’ which has been streaming on most of the popular music platforms in 2021. She has also been running her own YouTube channel where the audio episodes are presented in the form of video clips.
