Sin as a young boy was very much interested in all forms of sports and used to participate enthusiastically in all sports events but had a special corner for wrestling. Sin used to take part in freehand wrestling competitions at school levels and state levels. After completing his high schooling at a local school situated in El Paso, he pursued higher studies related to embalming and funeral director services in Mexico.

After completing the degree Sin started working in his grandfather’s funeral home in Juarez, Mexico. Along with that, he also practiced wrestling in Burges High School. In 2004, Sin became associated with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide and wrestled for nearly a year. In 2006, he became a part of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and played the 2006 world XD-Cup Tournament. At the world cup tournament, he was one of the four members of Team Mexico. He joined the National Wrestling Alliance in 2007 and played it and Chikara till 2009. In 2009, Sin became an integral part of the WWE, after completing the developmental phases; he won several championships over there and continued playing till 2019. In 2019, he returned to Mexican Independent Circuit and has been playing continuously at the Mexican Independent Circuit since then.

WWE career

Initially, he worked a “try-out” match for WWR where he worked without a mask with ring name Jorge Arias. He had a developmental deal with the company after which he began working for WWE’s farm league Florida Championship Wrestling. Later, he started using the ring name Hunico and started teaming with Tito Colon. He formed Los Aviadores (Spanish for “The Aviators”) after pairing with Tito Colon and defeated Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso (The Uso Brothers). on June 3, 2010, making them become the Florida Tag Team Champions. They lost the title to Kaval and Michael McGillicutty but became successful in regaining the title back in the rematch. He lost to Justin Gabriel in a dark match at the NXT tapings on July 26, 2011.

In 2011, he made his main roster debut on the August 12 episode of SmackDown where he defeated Tyson Kidd. He played the role of Sin Cara participating a battle royal where he was eliminated by Mark Henry at the last. He marked win against Daniel Bryan on the August 30 episode of SmackDown marking his first heel turn where he attacked Bryan even after the match. The original Sin Cara made his return at the tapings of the September 16 episode of SmackDown who confronted Arriaga’s impostor version of the character. The impostor Sin Cara attacked the original September 19 episode of Raw before he could face Cody Rhodes in the ring. While the original was having a match with Daniel Bryan, the imposter Sin Cara attacked him again. Later, he used a new black attire to distinguish himself from the original and revealed that he stole Urive identity as Sin Cara just like the way he stole the Místico identity from him six years prior.

After the new black attire, he was referred to as “Sin Cara Negro” and lost to the original Sin Cara at Hell in a Cell. Their feud came to an end when the original character unmasked Arriaga in a Mask vs. Mask match at the October 16 taping of SmackDown in Mexico City.

He reprised the character again on December 2, 2013 December 2, 2013, and successfully defeated Alberto Del Rio. He formed a tag team with Kalisto as “The Lucha Dragons” after being sent to NXT. They marked a win against The Ascension to win the NXT Tag Team Championship which they lost to Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy on the January 28 episode of NXT.

They made their main roster debut together participating in an 8-man tag team match where they teamed with Big E and Kofi Kingston (The New Day) to defeat Konnor and Viktor (The Ascension), Tyson Kidd and Cesaro. They revealed their plan of disbanding on July 18, 2016, after which they started their role as singles competitors. He confronted Braun Strowman on the September 5 episode of Raw. He lost to Strowman in two matches by countout and pinfall. He formed a team with Lince Dorado to defeat Drew Gulak and Tony Nese.

He participated in a six-man tag team match, the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on October 30, 2016. Where he teamed with Cedric Alexander and Lince Dorado to defeat Drew Gulak, Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari.

He moved to the SmackDown brand on April 11, 2017, and began a feud with the United States Champion Baron Corbin. He lost to Corbin on the November 14 episode of SmackDown Live making him fail to earn the United States Championship. He participated in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34 in April 2018.
