Career

He made his professional wrestling career debut on June 26, 1987, and initially worked for World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) as various gimmicks. He appeared into the limelight after turning as the WCWA Texas Heavyweight Champion and USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion.

In 1989, he signed with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) where he played under the ring name “Mean” Mark Callous. In 1990, he joined the World Wrestling Federation which is now named as WWE where he made his debut as ‘Kane the Undertaker’ on November 19, 1990, at a taping of Superstars. His on-camera debut was made at Survivor Series as a heel on November 22. In his first match, he eliminated Koko B. Ware in a minute and later eliminated Dusty Rhodes before being counted out. He was referred to as ‘The Undertaker’ and the name ‘Kane’ was omitted and was dropped after the event. The ring name ‘Kane’ was given to another wrestler named Glenn Thomas Jacobs who was presented as Undertaker’s younger brother and is currently the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

On March 24, 1991, he made his WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania after having victory over “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka. His first major feud came when he attacked The Ultimate Warrior locking him in an airtight casket. He won against Animal in the 1991 King of the Ring in a qualifying match. On April 1 at WrestleMania 23, Undertaker successfully defeated Batista making him receive World Heavyweight Championship for the first time. The two-faced again in a rematch at Backlash which ended in a draw as both of them couldn’t stand on their feet by the referee’s count of ten. They again faced in a steel cage match which again in a draw as both the wrestlers touched the floor at the same time.

After completion of the match, Mark Henry appeared in the ring and assaulted Undertaker who was already exhausted. Edge found an opportunity and suddenly ran in the ring to cash his Money in the Bank briefcase. Undertaker was able to kick out of two quick pin attempts but later he couldn’t remain in the match after having two spears from Edge.

On January 27, 2008, he participated in the Royal Rumble match at number 1. He was eliminated by Shawn Michaels. John Cena became the winner of the match by eliminating Triple H at the last. Other participants were The Great Khali, John Morrison, Hornswoggle, CM Punk, The Miz, Carlito, Finlay, Big Daddy V, Chavo Guerrero, Kane and so on.

Undertaker won the SmackDown Elimination Chamber match where he defeated Finally, The Great Khali, MVP, Big Daddy V and Batista to become the number one contender at WrestleMania XXIV for Edge’s World Heavyweight Championship. He defeated Edge with the Hell’s Gate submission hold marking his 16th WrestleMania win securing World Heavyweight Championship for the second time. He retained the title in a rematch at Backlash.

After nine-month hiatus, he returned on January 30, 2012, episode of Raw challenging Triple H. They faced in a Hell in a Cell match where Shawn Michaels was introduced as a special guest referee. He defeated Triple H at WrestleMania XXVIII extending his Streak to 20–0.

He made his appearance on the 1000th episode of Raw to help his storyline brother Kane who was confronted by Tyler Reks, Jinder Mahal, Curt Hawkins, Drew McIntyre and Camacho. The two brothers (Brothers of Destructions) proved to be dominating over six other wrestlers.

He was challenged by Bray Wyatt in early 2015 to a match at WrestleMania 31. He accepted the challenge and was successful in defeating Wyatt after two Tombstone Piledrivers on March 29, 2015. He made his return in July at Battleground by attacking Brock Lesnar at a time where Lesnar was about to defeat Seth Rollins. They faced at SummerSlam in August where Undertaker was able to controversially defeat Lesnar. They were put together at Hell in a Cell match where Undertaker lost the match after Lesnar charging him a low blow and executing F-5 for the third time.

Despite the loss, the crowd gave him an ovation but Undertaker was again attacked by The Wyatt Family which comprised Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. The Wyatt Family captured Kane in the following night and Wyatt explained that the demonic powers of the brothers are stolen by them.

This made the return of The Brothers of Destruction who attacked The Wyatt Family. A tag team match was set up at Survivor Series where Undertaker was honored for his 25 years in WWE. The Brothers of Destruction faced Wyatt and Harper and defeated them.

The Undertaker faced Shane McMahon (son of Vince McMahon) who made his return to WWE for the first time since 2009. They were kept in a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania where Shane was offered the control of Raw if he won the match. It was a deal that if Undertaker lost to Shane, it would be his last match at WrestleMania. On April 3, he defeated Shane following weeks of physical confrontations and mind games.

On January 9, 2017, episode of Raw, he announced to compete at the Royal Rumble match. The same month, he confronted Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. On January 29, 2017, at Royal Rumble, he entered at number 29. He was able to eliminate four wrestlers (Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin, The Miz and Goldberg). However, he was eliminated by Roman Reigns who was the number 30 entrant. A feud was created between Undertaker and Reigns and they faced in a No Holds Barred match at WrestleMania 33 on April 2. After five spears from Reigns, he lost the match marking his second loss in WrestleMania. He exited from the ring after putting down his gloves, hat and coat in the center of the ring.

On October 6, he faced Triple H at Super Show-Down in Australia in a no disqualification match. He lost the match following the interference from Shawn Michaels. This made the reunion of The Brothers of Destruction and D-Generation X who faced on November 2 at Crown Jewel.

The Undertaker didn’t appear on WrestleMania 35 which was the first WrestleMania since WrestleMania 2000 not featuring him which took place on April 7, 2019. The following day, he appeared in the ring attacking Elias while he was giving his musical performance. On June 7, he faced Goldberg at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia and successfully defeated him.

He appeared in the June 24, 2019, episode of Raw attacking Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre who were dominating Roman reigns in a handicap match. The Undertaker and Roman Reigns faced Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre in a No Holds Barred tag team match and successfully got victory over them.

On February 27, 2020, he returned at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia making a surprise appearance by replacing Rey Mysterio where he defeated AJ Styles. This created feud between Undertaker and Styles and they faced at WrestleMania 36. He was able to grab victory over Styles despite the assistance of Gallows and Anderson.
