How were his early childhood days?

Singh was born in 1988 in Gopiganj Bhadohi, India. His father was a truck driver and the entire family used to live in poverty. Singh faced financial problems in his house from his early age where he was one of nine siblings. All the family members were forced to live in a one-room house. They used to depend on well water although their home had electricity.

Despite family and financial issues, Singh managed to play cricket and threw the javelin as a child. E was able to turn the junior national javelin medalist. He was also enrolled at the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, Lucknow, India.

The Million Dollar Arm

He rose into the limelight after participating in the Indian reality television show The Million Dollar Arm in 2008. It was a program developed by an American sports agent J. B. Bernstein, Will Chang and Ash Vasudevan with an aim of discovering the individual who could throw the fastest and most accurate baseball in the country. Singh who has never heard about baseball before was able to win the competition being top among the 37,000 participants where he was able to throw at the speed of 87 miles per hour. The win made him receive a prize that amounted to US$100,000.

He and runner-up Dinesh Patel grabbed the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles where they received training from Tom House, the pitching coach of the University of Southern California. While he decided to move to the United States, most of his family members didn’t agree with him. On the day he landed in the United States, he attended his first baseball game at USC with Dinesh Patel. The duo also started boosting their English and learn the game from House and Bernstein.

Baseball career

In 2008, with Patel, he tried out in front of scouts from 20 Major League Baseball teams where his pitches reached 148km/h or 92 miles per hour. Both of them were signed with Pittsburgh Pirates making them become the first Indians to sign American major league baseball contracts. They won the total signing bonus amounted to $8,000. After completion of their training, they visited their families returning to India for a short time. They return back to the United States and entered Pirates training camp in Bradenton, Florida. With the Pirates’ Gulf Coast League affiliate, he started the 2009 baseball season.

He became the first Indian to appear in a professional baseball game in the United States on 4 July 2009. He was seen pitching the seventh inning. He marked his first professional baseball game win on 13 July 2009. In the season, he completed with a 1–2 record. The following year, he completed the season recording 2–0 with a 2.61 ERA. Later, he was promoted to the Pirates Class A Short-Season affiliate. On 24 May 2010, he grabbed an opportunity to meet US President Barack Obama at a White House Heritage Month event. For the 2010–11 season, he played with the Australian Baseball League.

He was seen opening the 2011 season in the Dominican Summer League. For the 2011–12 season, he made his return to the Australian Baseball League with the Adelaide Bite. He surprised his followers after signing a contract with WWE on 14 January 2018. He made his in-ring debut on 31 May 2018 in a losing effort against Kassius Ohno at an NXT live event in Tampa. On NXT live events, he started being managed by Robert Strauss on 21 March 2019. Singh made his first televised appearance alongside Saurav Gurjar, and manager Malcolm Bivens on the 25 March 2020 episode of NXT where they attacked Tag Team Champion, Matt Riddle.

He was introduced as ‘Rinku’ by Bivens in the following week where Saurav Gurjar was introduced as ‘Saurav’ only. Saurav and Rinku formed a tag team named ‘Indus Sher’ which means Indian Tiger. In their debut match, the Indus Sher defeated Ever-Rise. They continued their win defeating Mikey Delbrey and Mike Reed. They heated the environment by warning Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan.
