Early wrestling career

He made his wrestling debut in 2007 and initially used names like Jonah Rock and J-Rock. He wrestled throughout the Australian independent circuit for about eleven years. Duirng that period, he was able to earn multiple titles including being former one-time Explosive Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champion, former three-time Wrestle Rampage Australian National Champion, former one-time Pacific Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship, former one-time Melbourne City Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion, one-time Heavyweight Champion, one-time Professional Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Champion and one-time Intercommonwealth Champion and one-time Tag Team Champion. In addition to Australian promotions, he also worked for Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH promotion, the German promotion Westside Xtreme Wrestling the British promotions PROGRESS Wrestling and Revolution Pro Wrestling, and the American independent promotion Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.

WWE career

With other 11 recruits, he was announced to have signed with WWE and would be reporting to its developmental territory NXT in early 2019. The following month, he made his debut at an NXT live event wrestling in a losing effort against Riddick Moss while he was using his real name. His ring name was changed to Bronson Reed in the month of June. He made his official televised debut on the July 17 episode of NXT participating in the NXT Breakout Tournament where he marked a win against Dexter Lumis in the first round.

He lost to Cameron Grimes in the quarter-finals and got eliminated. He lost to former TMDK stablemate Shane Thorne on the August 21 episode of NXT. Undisputed Era backstage attacked him on the February 5 episode of NXT while he was trying to aid the Kushida. He lost to Roderick Strong in the following week. He lost to Grimes on the June 3 episode of NXT and after the conclusion of the match, he got attacked by Karrion Kross.

He marked a win against Leon Ruff on the June 17 episode of NXT and called Kross and challenged him. They faced on the following week but Reed lost to Kross. He got victorious against Johnny Gargano and Roderick Strong in a ladder match for the vacated NXT North American Championship on the July 22 episode of NXT.
